Normally, when referring to the cost of a divorce, we refer to an “uncontested divorce” namely, that both parties are agreeable to obtaining a divorce without challenging any of the grounds or auxiliary issues such as custody, access and support. Assuming it is an uncontested divorce, the usual cost is approximately $1,700, bearing in mind that much of this cost is many disbursements, from court filing fees to service of documents and other relevant disbursements. There is also HST that is applicable to legal services.
